I’m Gavin Maclean and I’ve been a Lecturer in Sociology at Edinburgh Napier University since 2018. My research mostly follows an interest in the symbolic aspects of work, ‘value conflicts’ in organisations, ‘care’ and an interest in cultural and digital work.
I teach sociology of work & employment and sociology of media & culture modules at Edinburgh Napier and used to teach social theory too.

Great start Gav. Certainly grabs the attention. Very interesting topic too. I look forward to further insights! Ironic that X factor is regarded as ‘instrumental’ rationality though eh?! The only instrument I’ve ever seen is that eejit Wagner badly attempting to play the bongos. Definitely a highlight mind you.
